The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has established the Office of Agricultural Resilience and  Sustainability known as OARS.  This initiative is promoting the ability for farmers and ranchers to sustain their operations in the face of a multitude of challenges, of which 80% are classified as small producers with the average size of their operations is less than 100 acres.

CDFA has what is known as the Farmer Resource Portal that provides information and assistance directed towards farmers and ranchers.
