NRCS-TRCD 3-Year Conservation Agreement and Re-establishment of Fresno County Local Working Group
The California office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) executed in partnership with Tranquillity RCD a 3-year Conservation Cooperative Agreement. The CCA is in support of implementing six (6) of their nine (9) 2023-27 Strategic Plan Goals and is being managed by Blair Bain out of the Area 3 Office in Fresno:
- Address Climate Resiliency and Drought
- Improve Surface and Groundwater Quality
- Improve Surface and Groundwater Quantity
- Improve Soil Health / Soil Quality
- Improve Wildlife Habitat of Terrestrial and/or Wildlife Species
- Provide Education Opportunities for Tribes and Historically Underserved Farmers and Ranchers
The primary focus is directed towards providing resource and conservation services to historically underserved farming and ranching communities and providing increased opportunities to the local workforce. Additionally, the primary goal is to re-esablish the NRCS's Local Working Group (LWG) for Fresno County with their District Conservationist.
This will be undertaken with the NRCS's Area-3 Assistant State Conservationist and Fresno County District Coservationist, key partners and affiliates for this important initiative that includes:
- MuMullin Area Groundwater Agency (MAGSA)
- Carbon Cycle Institute and CCI's San Joaquin Valley Regional Carbon Farm Hub Program
- Farm of the Future Training and Certification Programs, West Hills Community College District
- UC - Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC-ANR) Fresno
