Fibershed's Regional Fiber Manufacturing Initiative

Fibershed's  Regional Fiber Manufacturing Initiative (RFMI) is developing a manufacturing system to regionalize the production of textiles, and foster climate solutions and community prosperity.  This is a pragmatic and viable model to demonstrate the benefits of a biocircular economic framework that minimizes exposures to the inefficiencies and dependencies of a global supply chain.

Onshoring and re-establishing a fully vertically integrated value-added supply chain in California can minimize disruptions, create jobs, reduce the carbon footprint on a global basis while  minimizing the impact to our communities and the environment.

This initiative is a model that can be applied within all those involved directly or indirecty in sustainble agricultural practices  from the farmer as a producer, to the value-added processor, then ultimately to the consumers in California and elsewhere.   It is purely economic common sense and Tranquillity RCD supports their efforts to make this a reality and as a flagship for others within agriculture.
